It is hard to imagine that a 2.3 acre lot in the core of the city overlooking a vista that takes in Saint John from East to West would remain vacant for over 25 years. A designer & a poet with a love for art came to us looking for a contemporary design to downsize from their existing home and wanted to bring to life this all but forgotten site.
The design explores bringing a contemporary vision to a truly wild city site. Featuring a green roof and maximizing daylight throughout the house, Into the Wild invites the outdoors to be part of the house. The main siding and wood flooring will be built out of reclaimed snowfences that have developed a rusted patina that echos the rock found on the site. The corten weathering steel on the garage only heightens this visible mineral palette that also grounds the project in the industrial port city where it calls home. The Acre is excited to announce ground has broken on their first residential project in Saint John. Join us through construction for updates.
