Concept
A project to design a building in Sendai for Impact Japan with the purpose to inspire innovators, entrepreneurs and curated users. The building is designed as two distinct elements: a partly below grade, open plate will be visible from the outside with the main function to be used as a Techshop/Hacker space. An experimental kitchen will serve an indoor as well as an outdoor terrace. Closed meeting rooms can be used for classes, presentations, conferencing and brainstorming. On the second floor rows of Japanese tatami mat-laden rooms double function as group-meeting rooms as well as provide space for overnight sleeping. At the north-side of the building double-height ateliers are created for guests. On the roof an outdoor barbecue and bar with an outdoor bar to continue the discussions into the evening.
