The project is an extension of the International People's College and will add a new social anchor point at the heart of the College. The existing premises were designed by architect Steen Eiler Rasmussen in 1967. The extension complement the existing buildings with a contemporary and highly sustainable landmark.
Centrally in the project is a Hall of United Nations. Here young people from all over the world will interact with students from the International People’s College as delegates in virtual Model United Nations conferences. This key feature will have a prominent location at the edge of the college site adapted to the characteristic sloped landscape.
The hall and adjacent activities are highly multi functional which makes it possible to accommodate the broad program in a compact building. In this way the resource consumption can be minimized and the construction be economically viable. Together with a full scale wooden construction and a balance between usability and technology the highest sustainable ambitions are set, when the extension is completed in 2021.
