The 100,000-square-feet International Exhibition Center is conceived as an icon to showcase a city at the forefront of global exchange. Its expression evokes the diamond—simultaneously transparent, angular, and reflective. A setting for international businesses to showcase their merchandise, the visual transparency of the all-glass façade will strengthen connections between merchants and the neighborhood. The striking façade design utilizes an angular pattern that represents the crossing paths of diamond and silver exchange in Latin America.
The theme of crossing paths informs the site development, with intersecting paths and benches encouraging social interaction outside the center. Native plantings and reflecting pools provide a rich and varied outdoor experience to supplement the building’s interiors. A dramatic three-story-tall entry lobby provides pre-function spaces. The exhibition hall is marked by generous daylighting that creates an inviting interior with generous views for the large space.
