International competition for ideas for a new cycling and pedestrian bridge over the 2ª circular, Lisbon - PortugalThe International Competition for Ideas for a new Cycling and Pedestrian Bridge over the 2ª Circular in Lisbon, henceforth shortly referred to as Competition, is promoted by Fundação Galp Energia and by ExperimentaDesign 2009 LisboaSuspended Garden /// Cycling and Pedestrian Bridge"It's about time to be positive"The program proposes the creation of a pedestrian and cycling bridge to cross over the 2? Circular in Lisbon: our proposal consists of a hanging garden that unifies the "green areas" adjacent to the urban road.Our proposal is something more than just a bridge! In a place marked by the bustle and frenetic speed, characteristics of this European metropolis, we are surprised with a moment of contrast - the result is a hanging garden, as an extension of two green edges, which brings us to an environment of tranquility.As a result, we designed a "ground hold" intended solely to be crossed by pedestrian and cycling users. The distinction of these ways is revealed by the color of the recycled rubber floor - yellow to pedestrian and orange to cycling. The routes are illuminated by vertical structures, which work for display advertising of Galp Energia.These routes move like wires that carry us for several scenarios marked by diversity. We start this EXPerience with a tenuous contact with vegetation, which intensifies and involves us gradually along the path. The central area of the route, which is over the traffic area, is marked by greater density of vegetation, which protects and keeps us away of the traffic activity.The viaduct is supported by a concrete structure and there are semi-spheres that work as "pots" for the large vegetation. The contact with the ground is done by round pillars and irregular implantation. This dynamic structure is planned to have a system of wind turbines, which together with photovoltaic panels, used in vertical lightning structures, generate enough power for a self-sufficient bridge. There is also the intent of capturing the water from the rain for use in irrigation system.The proposed structure intends to be integrated with the surroundings, highlighting the relationship between the margins of the road, creating a zone of stroll or stay over that values the city and those who inhabit it.
