BBGM provided architectural design services for this 12-story, 278-key hotel located on the southwest waterfront Washington, DC. The form of the building is intended to reflect the shape of the city block on which it is situated. The intent of the design is to create a modern expression for a waterfront building that plays with the 'harbor side' aesthetic in various ways. The primary materials are red brick, slate gray metal, and glass. The three-story base of the building features a granite base, brick piers, and metal framed panels of glass. Canopies of various types provide shade and lighting at night to the sidewalk cafes and seating areas.
