Interactive Christmas Tree
The Interactive Christmas Tree is a project developed by WeNew and BattleLab for the Catarina Fashion Outlet mall in São Roque, SP, Brazil. Created by the designers Fábio Couto, Michelle Souza and Vivian Grieco, it is a technological installation very different from traditionals Christmas trees.
With more than 200 meters of Led Lights, programmed through specialized software for Games, the tree was designed with tubular metal structures immersed inside a reflecting pool. The entire structure measures 10 meters (33 feet) tall and it has 48 rubber rugs with special sensors, capable of triggering lights and fragments of melodies that inspire the Christmas mood. As visitors step on the rugs around the tree, musical notes and synchronized colored lights are triggered by footsteps, creating endless combinations of sounds, lights and graphic animations.
The project was developed as a way to approach Christmas through a collaborative experience, in which the visitors themselves are the protagonists of the attraction.
