Scherr + Klimke was awarded the Overall Design of the entire factory with the complete design and construction supervision, including all buildings, the plant infrastructure and the HVAC and electrical installations. After a construction period of only 14 months, despite a severe winter, Schwenk Dämmtechnik GmbH & Co. KG in Bernburg started the production glass wool right on schedule. The heart of Europes most modern insulation plant is the 270-meter long production building (approximately 245,000 m³ gross). The two production lines will be produce approximately 90,000 tonnes of glass wool per year. Clustered around the production hall are warehouses for the storage and stockpiling of raw materials and a maintenance building. The office building provides space for the plant management and sales, as well as a canteen and locker rooms. The open space storage area for the finished products has a size of over 45,000 square meters.
Green Factory Engineering: The complete factory has only domestic sewage drains. The total rainwater donation of the factory is collected over a cistern and fed to the production. The office building is equipped with a highly effective external thermal insulation wall by Schwenk and uses the heat recovery of the production for heating.
