INTERACTIVE ART INSTALLATION MEETS DISCO IN A REPURPOSED SHIPPING CONTAINER AT THE DEKALB MARKET IN BROOKLYN.
Using artists' tape and mirrored disco balls, Post Modern Production recently created a space for visitors to “calm-up” by being enveloped in abstract black-and-white patterned walls while slow-moving light reflected the prisms of a disco ball. The 20 foot-long recycled shipping container was divided into two square rooms. The first contained two chairs, a side table, a sketch book and a Sharpie. The public was invited to enter, relax, have a seat and contribute to the book in words or pictures. The second room housed a bicycle, courtesy of velocity-rides.org, a non-profit organization which introduces youth from underserved communities to urban planning and design concepts through cycling.
