Located in the heart of Surat’s commercial district, this 1000 sq ft office for INORI—a wealth management firm—reimagines the idea of a workplace through the lens of Japandi minimalism. Designed by D’WELL, the project offers a calm yet expressive spatial experience, moving away from conventional corporate design language rooted in glass and partitions.
The name INORI, meaning “prayer” in Japanese, served as the starting point for the design narrative. Inspired by the values of intention, clarity, and emotional presence, the office is anchored by a central courtyard—a space of pause and quiet strength. This zone is crowned by a gently sloped ceiling, under which a stretched fabric skylight diffuses light onto The Golden Tree, a sculptural element and a symbol of grounding.
Flanking this core are two angular, three-faceted volumes that house the working, waiting, and executive functions. These are collectively known as the Peace Unit—a subtle nod to the peace symbol. The geometry introduces rhythm to the space while maintaining clarity in movement and purpose. At the far end of the layout, a north-facing conference and meeting lounge opens to views of the city, allowing light and perspective to soften the formality of business.
Materiality plays a key role in reinforcing the project’s intent. Rich dark wood and black upholstery add depth, while soft grey walls and light-toned floors balance the palette. White pebbles beneath the seating and tree offer a sensory contrast, echoing nature within a refined setting.
Crafted to support not only productivity but also mental clarity, this workspace becomes more than an office—it becomes a place of reflection, rhythm, and calm, designed for those who inhabit it every day.
