The first project of Kaunas city in the territory dedicated to innovative science and business development and infrastructure.
This building is the first one as a nucleus for the whole innovation park. By reconstructing the currently abandoned hangar of the former aviation factory, the City of Kaunas will absorb EU funds, create new jobs, and attract investment not only for the City of Kaunas, but also for the whole region of Lithuania.
The project maximises the use of the existing building's space and size, and creates an additional almost 4000 sqm of gross floor area, which will be used for low-emission manufacturing and its expansion.

Architectural expression

The interior of the building has been designed to be comfortable for operations - while retaining the essential details of the hangar building - which create a distinctive interior. The use of modern interior finishes allows for a very wide range of activities - the workplaces, the planned production activities - are completely unrestricted by space, as they make use of the existing structures, new freight elevators, industrial gates for access to the building, and the creation of a glass roof area on the second floor, maximising the natural lighting in the building and creating a comfortable working environment.

Functional zoning

Inside the building, there is the possibility to accommodate five companies with different activities, with the possibility of redesigning the spaces according to the needs of the users.
Outside the building, there are recreational areas for those working or visiting the building, convenient access, new transport infrastructure, parking spaces, cycle paths.

Facade solution

The conversion of the building creates a modern, A++ energy efficiency class space with a microclimate created by an exceptional type of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, as well as cold machines, which have not been used in Lithuania before, which will allow the building to carry out activities with high hygiene requirements - such as the production of pharmaceuticals, biotechnological, advanced therapy pharmaceuticals, the production of mechanical components, optical coatings, scientific electronic devices and prototype devices.
