A family retreat that provides shelter from harsh weather conditions, and open views of the surrounding landscape. This beach residence is located on the south coast of Western Australia, on a wonderful Banksia forest block 1km away from Injidup Beach. The building turns its back on the harsh western weather, creating a sheltered courtyard, with each of the spaces of the house opening onto it. The house, a retreat for family and friends, is positioned to maximise views of the Banksia forest from the upper and lower levels. Like A Workshop’s Lost Highway House, the circulation between living and sleeping spaces is exterior to the property, with the courtyard acting as the main focus of the living area.
