Nuvo Buro Group, in collaboration with the architectural bureau Archattacka, came up with a social urban space in Almetyevsk, Tatarstan. There was a closed industrial space, but now it is a new public park, Industry Garden, with recreation zones and public art objects on the premises of a working boiler house.
In 2017, the space chosen by Nuvo was an area of Almetyevsk Heating Plant No. 2 enclosed by a fence. The first task was the creation of large-scale murals by artists Artem Stefanov and Kirill Kreal on the tanks and walls of the plant. Two years later, at the initiative of Nuvo Buro, the Solar Facula media sculpture by Viktor Polyakov with a viewing platform was created. Later, the "Nokta" — laser installation by S E T A P studio appeared at the site. It is Russia’s first media installation with light projection that works round the clock. In 2021, the park was enhanced with a modern skate park designed by FK-Ramps. An important visual component of the space was the urban garden of local flora indigenous to Tatarstanl, which enters into a dialogue with industrial aesthetics.
Finally, the main visually dominant feature of the Industry Garden are the yellow gas pipelines, normally intended for industrial use. The pipes were used to create installations that organically resonate with the existing gas pipeline. The objects have many functions at once: you can sit and rest on them, they become supports for lighting, skaters can do tricks on the pipes, the pipes themselves look like objects of art.
Completed in the summer of 2022, the Industry Garden has become a popular public spot. As part of Nuvo’s Storytelling Guide, the team conducted training for selected local residents who later became professional guides and now give tours of the renovated Park.
