INDUSTRIAL SCULPTURE . Competition for the rehabilitation of warehouse 5 Lafarge in Villaluenga de la Sagra
The project is based on the idea of respecting the existing, giving value especially to the contribution to the historical memory of the site and it´s industrial architectonical quality, establishing a balance between the timeless and the more innovating character of the company ‘Lafarge’. It searches for a new perception of the site, stimulating the senses and creating a sensorial connection with the existing.
It is about defining a sculptural element inside the present volume. An element that exposes and transmits, formally and materially, the processes and techniques of the material transformation at the factory of Villaluenga and the Lafarge products. The project will be sensed and experienced, telling us a story which has its origin in the use of the raw materials and ends with the ambition of a sustainable innovation.
Therefore, the project is marked by a simple form, prominent, aware and with a dignity regarding its irregularity. Searching to make the visit to the building a material experience, where the visitor is in a genuine and natural way, aware of the essence of the Lafarge products and its transformation to become part of an architectural design.
