One Indiabulls Centre is a dramatic
complex currently comprising of two towers, located strategically in Mumbai’s
emerging Central Business District of Lower Parel. This project is designed by
Anupam De of Anupam De Associates (ADA), a Mumbai based architectural firm that
is doing several noteworthy projects in India. Anupam started ADA in Dec 2007-
a fully home-grown architect; he has designed and completed many commercial
office and residential projects in India in a short span of 4 years. Prior to
opening ADA, he was a Senior Associate at AHC (Architect Hafeez Contractor).
The 2 towers while complementing each
other are a stark contrast in form and spatial planning. The first tower has a
floor plate of 2500 sqm and is distinct by the 11 degree tilt. The second tower
consists of 2 wings of approx 1800 sq m each to merge on the top 3 floors
(17-20) with a span of 35 m. The floor plate of each of these combined floors
is approx 5000 sqm. While one tower is embellished with glazing and aluminum
cladding the other is with glazing and limestone cladding. The 2 towers are
serviced by 34 elevators including 6 scenic elevators. The project is a
sustainable development and has received pre-certification for LEED - GOLD
rating.
The project has turned the erstwhile
textile mill area of Mumbai into the new business district of the city. The
towers house offices of Morgan Stanley, Bloomberg, British Council, Tata Motors
and a host of other multinational and Indian corporate/financial firms. The complex will be complete when 2 residential
towers of 65 storeys, also being done by AWA, will finish construction.
