The number of the main problems has
identified our solution of facades and entourage of the cinema. Pushkinsky has
to stop being a detached ‘island’ and has to be incorporated into an urban
environment and become a social and active place.
By smoothly rising hill Pushkinsky square
is connecting with the terrace around the theatre, so the building obtains easy
links to the city environment. Green hill with illuminated paths is leading to
the cinema building. It forms the new space for the citizen activities and also
this solution lets the Pushkinsky cinema take active part in environment
composition.
The giant media screen placed on the visor
which is going from outer space to the interior appears to be an interactive
information board and makes the effect of undivided spaces giving the illusion
of integration of the cinema lobby and the square.
The next important thing is that the
existing buildings side facades are looking like firewalls, That is preventing
from the interaction with the city. The filling of the side terraces with the
additional public activities like movie and music galleries, cafes, souvenir
shops or parking, makes these facades open and attractive to the city. Also the
scale relation of this filling matches to the street red line aligning the
cinema along the street.
Semi-transparent frame above the building
with terraces that is combining parts in one whole creates qualitatively
new space - semi-open and protected from wind and rain.
City, especially its central part, demands
more areas. Vast area of the cinema roof cannot be forgotten, so we make it
operated and verticaly connected to the street by elevators. Green exploited
roof will give us great view on the city panorama also interesting and
comfortable space for people.
