The project was a contribution to the 2nd Florence Biennale in 1998 "fashion and cinema". The Biennale was curated by ID-Mag founder Terry Jones and took place at the "Stazione Leopolda" in Florence.My partner, Stephan Doesinger and I were asked by fashion designer Kostas Murkudis to collaborate on this experimental art project.It was all about cinema without visible images and cinematic space without physicality. We hung a 14x6m fabric into the industrial shed equipped with hundreds of small speakers.The fabric was custom-woven with phosphorescent thread donated by Schoeller AG, Switzerland.The small speakers (normally used for watches) were mounted in patterns all over the fabric. Sound designers Andres Bosshard and Miki Yui played and mixed sounds that triggered the viewers own imagination - the viewers own movie - a movie without images? From time to time a flash of light refreshed the effect of the fabric, so it would glow in the dark...
