ReNewable Times Square was a design competition to redesign Times Square between 42-47 avenues using paint - (2010) Times
Square is about the awe, the people, the businesses, New Years Eve, and
the lights. My design sought to incorporate the newly crowned
pedestrian mall between 42-47 avenues into the night time ambiance.
Luminous green and blue paints guide pedestrian movement, absorbing UV
sunlight during the day and shine florescent at night.I deserve another shot at glory because my design was well analyzed, programed, and synthesized into a design. While the winning design was about global warming (and not Times Square), my design put importance into the night time aspects of the square. Also, the use of florescent paints in the landscape is quite original, I think.
