These are children welfare facilities composed of 3 buildings.
The North building and South building are for living and the rest building is used for various purposes.
The buildings are arranged in a radial fashion and make it possible to have a courtyard shaped circle, reminder of the Japanese “onigiri”.
The various heights of the roof make a rhythmical feature for the eye.
Contrary to its anomalous exterior, we designed a relaxed interior so that children can feel peaceful and as they would their own house.
The objective for Nakayama Architects was to create a space that creates a natural and home-like settings so that children feel "at home."
