Ikiru Hotel is a visionary renovation project by IDEOLOGIST, inspired by Japanese aesthetics and the philosophy of aikido — "the path to harmony." Located on the scenic Black Sea coast, the hotel sits amidst a stunning natural landscape of sea, mountains, and forest, and was designed to complement its surroundings rather than dominate them.
The architecture is minimalist yet powerful, drawing inspiration from the simple lines and geometry of traditional men's kimono patterns. A signature element is the use of rectangular bands that wrap around the building like draped fabric, creating a dynamic play of light and shadow while enhancing privacy for guests. Additionally, the cascading, wave-like roof mirrors the natural contours of the land and nods to traditional Japanese temples, grounding the design in cultural roots.
Ikiru’s interiors are built around tranquility and connection with nature, with every bed oriented to face panoramic views. The design balances Japanese minimalism with modern comfort, using low furniture and subtle zoning elements like raised podiums to create a serene, meditative atmosphere. Natural materials such as light-hued plaster, maple wood, and Japanese washi paper add warmth and texture.
Offering seven room types tailored to different needs, from compact Tokyo-inspired rooms to luxurious suites, Ikiru Hotel focuses on creating a space where guests can engage with their environment and rediscover inner peace. It’s more than a place to stay — it’s a sanctuary designed to inspire harmony between nature, self, and spirit.
