IKI Hotel is a Japanese-inspired 48-room boutique hotel located in Ipoh city centre currently under construction. Conceived as an urban retreat, the project transforms a compact and highly constrained site into a refined hospitality destination. Despite the challenges of scale and planning restrictions, the design navigates complexity with precision to create a building that is both contextually responsive and architecturally distinctive.
Rooted in the principles of Japanese architecture, the design celebrates the honest use of timber and concrete—balancing warmth with structure, and simplicity with detail. The architectural language emphasizes clarity, proportion, and meticulous craftsmanship, fostering a harmonious dialogue with its surroundings while offering guests a sense of calm and retreat.
The interior design carries forward this ethos of restraint and mindfulness. Natural textures, muted tones, and carefully composed spaces reinforce the boutique hotel’s atmosphere of serenity and understated elegance, complementing the architectural intent without distraction.
