This
project was to design an addition to the center for arts and architecture at Penn
State University. It’s current facility is located in Ihlseng Cottage, an old
cottage which has been expanded and has changed functions over its existence.
The
director of the center for arts and architecture voiced many concerns involving
size and function with the current cottage. Taking those issues into
consideration, designs were created. Focusing on the lack of meeting rooms and
public gathering spaces, this addition provides spaces for intermingling and
learning to spontaneously occur. The addition includes a lounge/ meeting room
and a large gathering room for assemblies and lectures.
