Guided by the belief that each project possesses its distinct character and that spaces should seamlessly blend functionality with aesthetic inspiration, Başak Akkoyunlu Design has completed the İDÇ Alsancak Office project at the heart of Alsancak.
Founded by architect Başak Akkoyunlu, BAD (Başak Akkoyunlu Design) specializes in architectural and interior design projects, from concept to execution. Intending to create a contemporary workspace, BAD completed the İDÇ Alsancak Office project, which spans a 2,736 sqm plot and comprises a total construction area of 27,000 sqm with officially designated five and eight-story sections. The project incorporates PV panels and ventilated facade systems to reduce energy consumption in an environmentally conscious manner.
The İDÇ Alsancak Office, designed by BAD, is conveniently located near major commercial centers, public transport networks, and urban amenities, providing unparalleled accessibility to its users. While prioritizing office spaces, the project seamlessly integrates commercial and residential elements to create a balanced work-life environment. One of its most striking features is the integration of three-dimensional artworks, blending art and architecture within the space.
Apart from its entrance area, the ground floor is entirely dedicated to commercial spaces, with a café that opens into the lobby, enriching the spatial experience for visitors. In the structural system of the vault located on the eighth floor, materials such as iron and corten were selected for the column at the entrance of the lobby area, the facade, and the installation choices, emphasizing the İzmir Demir Çelik Sanayi brand. The office spaces are designed with professional needs and include open and flexible layouts and thoughtfully planned social areas that encourage interaction. All planning decisions considered the region’s high urban density, ensuring the satisfaction of both users and property owners.
From the fifth floor upwards, the terraces were designed by BAD to function as both social and private spaces, enhanced with landscape design. These terraces were also envisioned to host various events, with easy access and integrated service connections. Instead of a fully glazed curtain wall system, which would rely heavily on mechanical ventilation, the project opted for conventional window systems. This design choice not only improves energy efficiency and sound insulation through air gaps but also creates a dynamic interior atmosphere by playing with light and shadow.
The executive offices on the southwest corner each have their private terraces and were designed with an exclusive elevator access system for added convenience. The top floor of the İDÇ Alsancak Office, designed by BAD, is crowned with a vaulted roof, which enhances the ambiance of the executive office and large meeting room while also creating a gallery space to showcase an art collection, connecting the upper and lower floors seamlessly.
