The “I Fiori di Joe” shop has been opened last February in Corato (Bari), by a young couple of flower designers. They wish to suggest a fresh concept for plants and flowers, by offering a support to the operators of the wedding and gardening fields.
The shop is located in a peripheral area of the city, recently refurbished by new buildings and facilities. The shop, designed by the architect Michelangelo Olivieri for m12AD, is composed by two zones: a point of sale and a storage zone, on a total surface of about 80 sqm, closed by five large windows.
The architect Olivieri has created a completely convertible layout, transformable according to the circumstances. By the creation of special displaying gondolas on wheels in fact, it is possible to realize eclectic equipment for the shop window and the shop.
The gondolas, made in shiny enamelled metal, petrol blue color, covered with glass or metal, may have different uses: they can be storage boxes, flowers pots or display units.
The big windows improve the natural light enhancing the black enamelled walls, with a slate effect, on which it is possible to write sentences, aphorisms and commercial offers. The black walls are in contrast with the colored flowers, with the petrol blue of gondolas and with a golden vase containing an orange tree.
The artificial lighting systems with hanging lamps, with a raw taste, are meticulously positioned on an invisible grid. The industrial style is also visible on the chosen materials: press-folded light wood and iron, used for the perimetral walls, for the shelving system and for the finishing details. In the middle of the shop, there is large wooden vertical wall with metallic holders, a refined solution that vertically furnish the shop (4 meters high) and acts as partition wall, hiding a small reserved area to talk with couples and clients.
A TV screen embedded on a large metallic panel allows to admire the portfolio of works, comfortably seated on leaves-shaped sofas covered with fabric. The counter desk is in 3D effect wood, with metallic elements recalling the concept of the shop. Also the desk is completely movable, thanks to its wheels, allowing the environment to be quite versatile.
