The hypergrid is an extension to the existing grid, an increasing number
of dimensions and relationships. The basic idea is to map spatial
regions in the third dimension, to place functions and infrastructure in
the space with one degree of relationship more.
The upgrade takes everything so that, changing position in the space,
every character can interact in a different, developed, hyper, way.
This project is suggestion of how it could be, of how we can imagine the
future of the city; the future on relationship; the future of our life.f:(R2)=>(R3)
The project, like a mathematical function, moves every urban element
(functions, spaces, flows, connections,people) from a bidimensional
domain set (the plane of the existing street grid) , to a tridimensional
domain set (the space of the Hyper Grid). The new rule, operating a
non-linear transformation, creates a urban caotic dynamic system,
phisically layered: the various elements that constitute the urban DNA
are arranged along
the new dimension of the grid (z). The urban attractors, towards which
this urban dynamic system evolves and growes are multi-scale urban
entities, placed at the intersections of the technologic nets. They must
be
infrastructural exchangers of flows and attractors of urban
functions.The new urban multi-scale shapes allow the connection between
the territorial identities belonging to the different scales creating a
new multi-identitary urban context.
