The Oak Room at Historic Oaklawn Racing Resort is a perfect blending of contemporary and traditional design. The eclectic eatery recalls a dimly lit, moody vintage parlor with deep colored tones, oak wood and black marble finishings. Paneled walls, hand rubbed antique brass detailing, antiqued mirrored columns, and textured wallcoverings contrast with contemporary elements. Custom furnishings feature a high-quality layering of ikat, plaid, flame stitch, velvet, and leather fabrics.
The Oak Room, the newest high-end dining restaurant at Oaklawn, replaces the former buffet venue. Located under the horse racetrack, the varied ceiling heights provide intimacy to the dining experience. An early 1900s era aesthetic enlivens the reception area. The space features antique-inspired globe pendants, leather camel-colored tufted seating, intricate rounded molding and built-in display cabinets. Complementing historical Oaklawn photographs, and the horse racing motifs found throughout the new resort, are several brilliantly colored, stunningly energetic LeRoy Neiman signed originals.
Bright Oak wood paneling is featured in two private dining rooms. Showcasing the venue’s unique branding, door handles, railings, Oak wood and marble finishes are adorned with Oak leaves and acorn detailing. Within the lounge seating, a sconce with a botanical linen print shade is focused on a luxurious velvet couch and two club chairs. Balancing the traditional setting are fun geometric print cocktail tables.
Over the Oak Room bar, globe pendants recall Oaklawn’s equestrian heritage. The pendants are suspended by leather straps and brass hardware similar in look to traditional horse-riding tack. Bar stools are custom upholstered in ostrich textured vinyl and Jonathan Adler flame stitch. Traditional key pattern tile floor, black marble countertops, and dimensional harlequin tile complement the historical and contemporary design mix.
