This new core facility multi-purpose building for the existing historic Humphreys Elementary School site borrows its profile and design from the existing adjacent historic buildings. This new campus building addition provides adequate activity space and indoor dining facilities for over 300 K-6 students. A prototypical District floor plan has been site-adapted to fit into a small available building site. The new multi-purpose room has a large indoor/outdoor stage and drop down dining tables for flexibility of use. A new kitchen also services a new teacher’s lounge and patio. The stage opens outside to a new covered lunch shelter sized to accommodate the entire student population. This project falls within the jurisdiction of Southern California Edison, and is designed to the SCE Savings by Design program. It also meets CHPS criteria as well as incorporating many LEED strategies. This project is one of the last projects to apply for Bond Funding, and recently completed construction.
