After five years of successful presence in Mexico, world wide leader brand in ergonomics Humanscale finally decided to open their first showroom in this important city.
Having chosen a small yet well situated site, our main challenges consisted on finding the correct balance between an ErgoLab and a work space; between meeting rooms and launch events; and with the correct natural vs artificial lighting to better provide the right atmosphere to the general public to enhance their experience around the products displayed.
We decided to work with materials and colors in a progression of tones that go from white to grey to black in the ceilings from the elevator exit to the farther window; and the exact opposite in the carpet selected, going from black to grey to a lighter grey right next to the glass, to better reflect the natural light into the space. Randomly placed spots of the corporate color help give life and fun to the whole space. A couple of walnut walls help divide the specialized rooms, and service furniture in the same material functions as reception, closet and filing.
However, the main feature in the space is a “floating” table displaying the branded lamps in between the whole space, a museographic gesture that grants a reception presence when exiting the elevator, which seems to break off the ceiling in one side and just touching the floor in the other.
Humanscale branded products are the stars in the space, and together with carefully selected graphics, such as company’s founder photo, industrial designer Niels Diffrient, complete the experience of Humanscale's new ErgoLab in Mexico City.
