Huit Sushi is a contemporary Japanese restaurant located in Montreux, Switzerland. The interior is structured around two intersecting walls — one in polished metal, the other in illuminated acrylic — which divide the space into four main zones: the open kitchen, dining area, cocktail bar, and waiting lounge. This cross-shaped composition allows for intuitive circulation while subtly separating functions.
What distinguishes this project is that our team was responsible not only for the design, but also for the full production and on-site implementation. Every element you see — from structural components to lighting solutions and furniture — was custom-made and installed by us.
A key technical feature is the custom-developed LED wall, entirely designed and fabricated in-house. This was not an off-the-shelf solution. The main challenge was to achieve a uniform glow without visible LED strips or internal shadows — a frequent issue in backlit surfaces. Our innovation allows for seamless color transitions across the full RGB spectrum — from cold whites to deep reds and blues — while avoiding unwanted hues like yellows and pinks. The lighting intensity is fully adjustable, allowing the client to tune the atmosphere from dim and intimate to bright and vivid.
An additional complexity was the integration of a glowing restroom door within the same wall system. This door can match or contrast the LED wall in both color and brightness, creating a subtle layer of spatial storytelling and visual intrigue.
The open kitchen and surrounding metal surfaces were fabricated from the same custom material, extending seamlessly from interior to exterior, offering a reflective interplay with light that changes dynamically throughout the day and evening. Above, acoustic ceiling panels were installed to optimize the sound environment. These panels are both visually integrated and highly effective, ensuring that the restaurant remains acoustically comfortable, even during peak hours.
Even the restroom area reflects the project’s design ethos — entirely clad in matte black, it becomes a monolithic volume with strong aesthetic identity, designed down to the smallest detail.
Custom furniture — including bar counters and tables — was crafted from textured, inhomogeneous acrylic blends, providing tactile variety and visual rhythm. Every piece of the project — including lighting, surfaces, and joinery — was precisely engineered and tested by our team prior to installation, ensuring full integration and harmony across all elements.
