Our smallest and cutest client (Hugo Kingston) approached us at birth with the desire to be incorporated into our daily work life. An-office-in-an-office was put forward as a place where he could play ‘seriously’ while we paid the bills nearby.
The Bureau is a playful exploration of form, light and inexpensive materials that act as a refreshing instance of pure design pleasure and construction. A mixed grid of vibrant carpet tiles are echoed onto a colourful plexiglass privacy screen to unify the tilting Bureau to the long studio table immediately adjacent. A large porthole gives entry into the cedar frame structure, with its shared work space for tall and small alike. Happy coincidences allowed us to substitute blocking with Hotwheels cars to prevent bowing of the interlocked ceiling.
