Set in the heart of a thriving artist community, the Hudson Senior Center is a marriage of
historic and modern values of architecture. The Senior
Center is a one and half story
addition to the north face of a historic brick building housing the Youth Center.
The design includes a multi-purpose space, art and game rooms and
administrative offices.
Spacesmith is providing architectural
services for the design of the 4,000 sf Hudson Senior Center. The project
entails an addition to the existing historic Hudson youth center building.
Located on the corner of South Third Street and Cherry Alley in Hudson, New
York, the project will house senior center functions in a new 1-1/2 story wood
clad addition. The new addition will include a multi-purpose great room ringed
by clerestory windows, an art room and an exercise studio. A new two story
elevator, HVAC system and pantry are included in the new design. Spacesmith is working
closely with the local government and historical society to design a
sympathetic and appropriate building that adheres to the historic context of
the neighborhood.
