Reshaping the New Jersey skyline in the Colgate Redevelopment Plan District, Hudson Greene is located in Jersey City and is comprised of 77 Hudson Street and 70 Greene Street. Designed and built for two national development companies, Equity Residential and K. Hovnanian, the two 48-story residential towers feature expansive views of lower Manhattan, the Hudson River, the Statue of Liberty, and Brooklyn. Both towers—one featuring condominium units and the other, rentals- are connected by an 11-story parking structure with a 35,000 square-foot landscaped rooftop plaza featuring luxury amenities including a lap pool, barbeque and fire pit, children’s play area, dog run and an elevated and tree-enclosed “contemplative space”. The green amenity space was strategically designed to allow for maximum daylight, views, and air circulation.
Conceived to maximize the spectacular harbor views from within the units, both buildings are faceted in plan and sheathed in floor-to-ceiling glass ranging in three blue-green colors reflecting the changing colors of theHudson River. The award-winning masonry design on 70 Greene pays homage to the aesthetic of the adjacent Paulus Hook Historic District. Brick and metal detailing on the lower levels of the building is evocative of the materials, scale and texture of the historic, industrial neighborhood. The retail street frontage is accented by cantilevered storefront bays and includes a “pocket park” for public seating and outdoor dining.
