"On occasion of the inaugural showcase of an exclusive Hublot watch in Singapore, a two-week long pop-up installation and gallery was housed in the main atrium of Paragon Shopping Centre, an upscale mall situated in the heart of Orchard Road, the bustling retail district of Singapore.
Taking advantage of the majestic void of space, an art installation spanning two floors, sweeps impressively across the area. Upon first glance, the formation of seemingly infinite yet mysteriously abstract shapes stops visitors in their tracks, inviting curiosity and closer inspection.
Tens of thousands of black gems rain down from above, resonating with the momentary quality of a pop-up store ' an ephemeral, fleeting point in time, captured and preserved in a still, three-dimensional yet graphical image. Over 100 man-hours were spent in the construction of the gems. Each gem was individually constructed from board and assembled together by hand. Overnight, countless gems, made from four sculptural permutations, suspended in various angles, transformed a public space into a dazzling illusion of infinitude and awe.
Within the cascade of black gems, a collection 'of precious watches is housed, where discerning clients may peruse pieces in the privacy of the glistening shadows of dark forms. Luxury watches and accessories are presented in monolithic pyramid displays scattered around the atrium, emitting a cool blue glow.
Illustrating the legacy of the Hublot luxury brand and its innovations, the installation seeks to recreate its notable paradoxical philosophy with an illusory space; magically solid yet porous and structurally monumental yet light."
