Special Construction materials
The plan includes 5 coupled houses that are energy neutral, through a combination of smart installations and very good insulation. The energy that is generated on the roof is equal to consumption. What you use, you produce yourself. Sustainability begins with good insulation, which consists of a special product, straw panels of Strotec. These panels are structural, have a very high insulation value and are “breathable” to create a pleasant indoor climate.
The houses are situated on the former Philips Strijp-R site, adjacent to Landgoed de Wielewaal. The area is very green, is characterized by the fact that you can walk beautifully, but is still close to the city center of Eindhoven. Characteristic of the neighborhood is that the houses are grouped together in clusters and have a modern identity.
The structure of the houses is spatially interesting, because of the split-level structure with different space heights. The living spaces of the houses are at least 30m2 and almost 4.20m high, which is a very special height for a house. Each home is designed as a personal suit for every resident, but due to the white stucco facades and black windowframes, they form a unified and coherent whole, that reminds one of the famous Weißenhofsiedlung in Frankfurt.
