The house is built as the first plan of a new project which explore the possibility of a ready-built house. This cooperative project of an architect office, real estate and construction companies enables to propose a fair price for end-users and a good way of living which has not been able to be provided by conventional ready-built houses.
Therefore, the project is planning various houses with each concept instead of what we call standardized houses. As architects, we had to create a design plan with a concept that would match the environment of the site, maintaining a housing generality within a limited budget.
The site is not in a favorable location for living since it is narrow between railways and a busy road. Expecting a couple in thirties with a child live in the house, we designed to include 2 bedrooms, living and dining rooms, and a kitchen with a garden and 2 parking lots (total floor space: 30坪), which is a standard condition of ready-built houses in this area.
Since the environment is kind of busy and noisy, we considered to create a comfortable residential environment. The high-ceiling entrance and stair-hall is designed as a buffer space that can control a lighting, breeze, also a sight and noise from outside. The space structure is a skip floor provided by two-layer of a master bedroom, kitchen, living and dining rooms and three-layer of sanitary parts, other bedroom and a loft. Compared to the bare framed roof, an interior is organized with partitions of white gate-type walls repeatedly so that the space can develop various looks from room to room. We had actualized a steric residence space having enough depth feeling by a gradual connection to outside through a buffer space, while securing the independence of each room.
The price including the housing land is equal to a same-sized room of newly built condominium in neighborhoods. It could get a good reception from end-users, and fortunately a certain family decided to live in this house during the construction. A new life has begun right after the house was completed.
