Living dynamics beneath gentle folds
House SP is an architectural transformation project that combines contemporary aesthetics, energy efficiency, and high-quality living. The intervention involves the renovation and expansion of an existing residential building, resulting in the creation of two new housing units: a spacious apartment on the first floor and an elegant duplex apartment spanning the second and third floors. To achieve this new configuration, the first floor and attic were demolished and rebuilt according to an innovative concept that emphasizes natural light and the relationship between interior and exterior spaces. The ground floor was preserved and updated only in its exterior facade.
On the first and second floor, a terrace unfolds among the branches of an old walnut tree, which becomes a central feature of the living space, offering a unique sensation of living immersed in nature. The opening towards the garden reinforces this connection with the outdoors, while the north facade was deliberately kept closed to shield the interiors from street noise and to ensure greater privacy and acoustic comfort.
A key element of the project is the panoramic terrace on the top floor—an open space overlooking the surrounding landscape that harmoniously extends the living area. An external staircase elegantly connects the levels, highlighting the dynamic structure of the building. The choice of materials reflects the minimalist and refined architectural language: white plaster for the facades, black metal cladding for the roof, black-brown galvanized and powder-coated metal railings, and large glass surfaces that seamlessly blend interior and exterior spaces.
Energy efficiency is ensured through triple-insulated facades and windows, along with an advanced heat pump system that guarantees a pleasant indoor climate throughout the year. The distinctive fold of the roof becomes an iconic architectural feature, generating captivating light effects and dynamic volumes. On the upper floor, both living and sleeping areas enjoy open views and a welcoming atmosphere, making House SP a prime example of architecture that balances design, functionality, and timeless beauty.
