The project consists of the renovation and expansion of rural buildings in state of neglect. The main building was built in the 30s and expanded in the 50s; the other buildings date back to the last post-war period.
The project of the existing building renovation proposes to delete all improper alterations of the 50s intervention and revive the characteristic elements of the rural building. Expanded parts have been demolished and the building re proposes the original size in plan.
The new expansion is composed by a transparent volume that link the old and the new building, by the volume of the kitchen containing the dining on which it engages an elongated volume inclined at 30° that contains the living room and the studio on the lower floor and the bedrooms on the upper floor.
New facades are treated with gray mud color plaster, the volume of the kitchen is clad in cor-ten, material used in various ways in all the complex buildings to dare a sign of continuity.
The front towards the north presents few narrow windows, the south one opens instead to the garden and the landscape with a great opening of 6 meters facing the living room and the gallery on the upper floor, with the intention to eliminate the barriers between interior and exterior. For this reason the windows on the lower level slide inside the masonry, overshadowed by the high shutters with horizontal wood stripes.

The existing barn was demolished and rebuilt in another position parallel to the body along the enlargement of the main building; the new block is coated in the two long sides in cor-ten panels. The short sides are fully glazed and alternation of full and empty characterizes the southern front overlooking the infinity pool, towards the hill with the newly built vineyard.
The pool is tiled with different shadings' emerald green stoneware.
The final phase consisted in the demolition and reconstruction of an insistent outbuilding in the lower part of the property. The new building with a flat roof is characterized by a longitudinal profile that allows integrating unobtrusively into the landscape planted with olive trees.
Facades are fully glazed in the living rooms and covered with recycled stone in the other parts. Here the windows are screened by sliding shutters that when fully opened will overlap perfectly the stone walls.
The volume of the bath which acts as a hinge between the two apartments is covered with cor-ten as well as parts of the residential building and the barn.

Throughout the project interior floors are the same external travertine flooring, except in the bedrooms where are heat-treated oak planks; the bathrooms are paved and covered with porcelain stoneware tiles or travertine.
Furnishings are a mix of contemporary design and vintage pieces of the 50s and 60s, the lighting is provided by led spotlights of minimal visual impact except some design elements.

Particular attention was paid to energy and ecological aspects, with a rainwater recovery intervention for irrigation, a 20 kw photo voltaic system for the two heat pumps that feed both the electrical system and heating and a solar thermal that ensures the needs of hot water for the entire complex and allows to heat the pool in the opening period.
The project also provides for landscaping; more than 500 olive trees and a vineyard of 11,000 square meters on the south side were planted. Along the streets leading to the residential building were planted fifteen cypresses in irregular groups of 2 or 3, 60 specimens of 'oak' and 'pyramidal horn beam', on the road that borders the lot eastward a hedge of some 700 specimens of various species was planted. Other elements have been planted to integrate the new constructions with the surrounding countryside.
