House S_ at Lake Starnberg - Connecting Nature and Architecture at Lake Starnberg

On a sloping site oriented to the lake Starnberg and the morning sun the house is hovering over the terrain with its widely levitating roof anchored between 3 stone clad volumes. The building interweaves with the surrounding landscape.

You enter the house in the upper level through a 4 meter high entrance hall.
The main living and entertaining space is the kitchen area connected to a huge pool terrace with a prairie style fireplace. Skyframe sliding Glass door systems allow the space to melt into a huge terrace under the dramatic levitating roof subtly lit at night. The outer pulse is embedded in the building. 3 large trees as foreground to the lakeview spent shade in summer. The base of the building is as much part of the landscape as it is a building. It is about complexity, different spacial experiences like the inner courtyard and the sheltered space underneath the pool in front of the lower garden level with its private rooms.
The garden concept with its generous mass plantation of Pennisetum grasses, white giant allium and carefully placed rocks adapt the building with the terrain.
