Approximately 20 kilometers away from the center of Brasília's Plano Piloto, the project for Casa Ribas unfolds on a plot of not particularly generous dimensions, appropriating it in a manner that balances the private and social aspects as effectively as possible.
Four reinforced concrete walls arranged longitudinally and spaced fifteen meters apart anchor, between their limits, two parallel metallic pavilions divided by a courtyard.
The initial organization of this layout structures the house in a way that places intimate spaces on the surfaces of these suspended elements, and communal spaces under their shade.
The courtyard, a central element in the overall organization of the house, is arranged here to bring light and panoramic vegetation to the living spaces and to facilitate a silent dialogue between the bedrooms hovering above the ground floor.
Beyond their static function in anchoring the metal beams of the pavilions, the walls also possess an infrastructural character - at times accommodating services on the ground floor, at others serving as circulation spaces on the upper floor.
It could be said that the ensemble resulting from the actions and interactions of the design yields a house where the reconfiguration of a previously non-existent landscape is sufficiently strong to establish dialogues, whether they be silent or candid.
