the basement originally was used for storage, ceiling hight was increased by removing under-ceiling ducts and reworking it into main bulkheads
Sustainable features:
Closed cell foam insulation on exterior walls and roof achieve well insulated, air-tight envelop without thickening the walls or sacrificing interior space.
Rain water is collected and stored to irrigate backyard garden.
Natural cooling
Ground floor large openings at front and rear draw cool air in, the operable roof skylight draws hot air out.
By maximizing cross ventilation and stack effect. AC use is greatly reduced.
High efficiency furnace and energy efficient appliances are used throughout.
