Design for this house was based on Alexander Dumas’ “The Three Musketeers”, for whom a three volume divider was chosen to represent “Athos, Porthos and Aramis”.
The cover, thin proportioned that embraces the whole, reminds of the cape these characters used. The entrance of the house crosses the volumes diagonally through a slot, which emulates the natural swing of the spade used by gentlemen in those days, and also reminds of a battle wound; a water pond unites the architectural unit illuminating in red, in symbolic remembrance of the Rose D’Anjou wine, which repeatedly delighted the Musketeers throughout the story, including their inseparable companion, Gascon D’Artagnan.
