House Pautz is a modern and elegant residence designed by Blunt Architects, that is situated in the Bronberg Nature Reserve in Pretoria. The proud owners of this fine residence, are Derick and Sönke Pautz - a young and dynamic couple who are both actively involved in the Property Development Industry. The couple bought this 570 m² stand in 2013, excited and inspired to start the developing process of their own dream home.
This three-story house was designed on a restricted north facing sloping site, which called for the client’s brief to enjoy north facing living areas, whist at the same time, securing their privacy when entertaining guests.
The house is embedded into the hillside, in order to create the residence basement parking and same-level entrance lobby. The house’s elevated living, dining and kitchen areas, all invite inhabitants out to the entertainment and pool area on the upper terrace, through large sliding glass doors. The master bedroom, dressing room and en-suite bathroom offers the couple the best view over the eastern suburbs of Pretoria.
A refined mix of materials used in this project, such as the seamless floors, sliding glass planes with robust concrete walls and soffits, define the modest construction and are finally balanced by its steel structure counterpart.
The couple’s love for art, fine collectables and designer interior pieces, finishes off this project in an exquisite and delicate manner, turning it into a living masterpiece. For this reason, the Architect was motivated to isolate this project from its equals and entering it into the next level.
