The site on which the house is built is a complex place, accessed from the street, a few buildings around and full of panoramic "frames".
The house lies on a pronounced slope, and overlooks the landscape of the Asiago mountainous plateau, establishing a special relationship thanks to the generosity of the large glass façade facing south.
The concrete plinth suspends it above the topography of the ground, above the landscape that flows below.
The double-pitched house is clad in vertically meshed larch wood whose veins integrate with the forest that surrounds it.
The choice of orientation of the views determines the design of the plan: to the north there is the entrance, with all the service spaces, to the south a large living area that looks into the distance, towards the point where the valley continues and offers bright and open views.
The large living area is located at the entrance level, and unites the two volumes into a single fluid space.
From the inside, the volume of the living area is designed by an imposing gabled roof made of exposed wooden beams that unifies the mezzanine space. It feels like entering the mountain.
In the vertical extension, the wooden building forms a special space both structurally and architecturally and takes up the character of the place through the shape of the roof.
The house plays with tradition. The special details and the materiality expressed in their original form of concrete, iron and wood, create a unity that is perceptible and tangible even in the interior. Double-height spatial situations are generated that create references with the landscape, vertical paths in a house that sets holistic accents.
The terrace, covered by a generous overhang of the roof, mediates the relationship with the landscape and, thanks to the presence of the external sunshade (made of vertical larch blades) that surrounds it to the east and west, regulates its relationship with light and panoramas, and invents a filter space between the internal world (private) and the external world (public). The light vibrates and changes continuously on the outer skin of the house. It is a subtle and iridescent vibration, thanks to the light of the mountain.
