As a public edifice with a cultural vocation, the HAC is by nature detached from any competitive commercial desire to dress flashy. An expanded metal skin wraps its body like a silent canvas making it an unobtrusive neighbor to a surrounding full of architectural heritage. In contrast, the base constitutes the communication platform with the public on street level and is fitted with an LED system constantly displaying images, videos and agendas of upcoming events. The 18.000m2 program includes a performance hall (800seats), a black box, a movie theatre, a documentation center, the national cinematheque, an exhibition space and workshops.
