void and shelf

The void in the center of the house is surrounded by a bookshelf.The bookshelf properly absorbs the sound of the piano and gently protects the void space from the external environment.

The outer side of the bookshelf is a bright space related to the outside.The inside is applied soft light from the skylight, and it is a calm space which is a little away from the outside.

Structure with clearance
The bookcase that reaches the roof is the structure of this house. As a result of consultation with the structural designer, we decided to combine the bookshelf pillars with the two SPF lumbers.

The outer shape of the structure is 3 pieces of SPF 2 × 12, and a spacer is put in the gap of the center one by one, and fixed structure is formed.

In the joint part we pinched the wood and fixed.

Although the outer shape of this structure is large, due to the effect of the gap, light from the outside is inserted into the void and the light of the room slightly comes out.
The structure gently connects the relationship between inside and outside of the bookshelf.

I hope that the person who wishes goes through the bookshelf, spinning inside and outside, finding a cozy place depending on the season, weather and time zone.
