The starting point for the design of this house was to fit a shape on a plot with a rather difficult trapezoidal contour, with a not very beneficial location in relation to the sides of the world - the entrance to the plot is located on the south side. One of the instructions from our investors was their dream of having an outdoor swimming pool, which is to be bathed in sunlight for most of the day to naturally heat the water. It was no easy task to simultaneously provide the investors with privacy and comfort while relaxing on the terrace and by the pool.
The program called for a spacious living area on the first floor, with a kitchen separated with doors. A pantry, a walk-in closet, a two-car garage and a game room with space to comfortably watch movies or play video games.
On the first floor are placed two comfortable children's rooms with their own bathroom, a laundry room, an office for remote work and a master bedroom area, with a private dressing room and bathroom, which also accommodates a sauna.
The shape is two modern barns, where the lower barn contains the living area and the upper barn contains the private area, bedrooms and office.
The upper barn is slightly overhung from the street, making the whole building look unusual, interesting and light. From the garden side, a pergola is attached to the building, partly solid where you can hide from the rain, and partly openwork, to let light into the living room, and yet provide shade on the terrace on hot days.
The facade is covered with gray clinker tile, topped with a roof made of black seamed metal. The peak elevations of the upper block are crowned with soaring trapezoidal windows, matching the angle of the roof slopes, which will provide plenty of daylight in the spacious bedrooms. Corridors and bathrooms are illuminated by skylights.
