Context: “Open field!” – is an expression that came out spontaneously, as soon as we found ourselves visiting the lot where we were supposed to design a house. And the Polish proverb about the wind always howling in an open field was soon verified with a positive result. The lot is a vast open area that bears resemblance to a large meadow. From the north it sticks to a road, whereas the southern side is edged with a forest. There will be over a 100 m distance between the building and the closest trees. The house is meant to have a pitched roof, according to the conditions for construction.Form: The building’s shape has been designed in such a way as to form “pockets” between certain areas. These pockets are, in reality, terraces, for which the building is supposed to act as cover from violent bursts of wind. In addition, it casts shadow and allows for some intimacy, forming many diverse nooks and crannies. The shaping of this kind is also meant to bring rural buildings to mind. This reference led us to abandon the plans for building a multithreaded, intricate structure. The building is meant to look like a set of simple objects, resembling traditional village housing. Each segment of the building acts as a set of functions, dividing the house into parts meant for: living, maintenance, sleeping, and accomodating guests.
