This house, located in the center of Osaka, is designed for a retired couple and proposes a new style of one-storied house in the pursuit of simplicity and richness.
By decreasing the number of rooms and reducing the house to one level, it became possible to create large open spaces that open to the outside and take advantage of the natural sunlight.
With the house situated close to a park and nearby apartments, there was a concern for privacy, however a solution proposed encircling the entire house with a wall. An S-shaped garden runs around the house, and the greenery provides a beautiful color contrast to the wood exterior.
This one-story house, surrounded by stacked condominiums, has created a new concept of richness that breaks preconceived notions that how large the ground space is, or how convenient it is.
