Stone columns, a dark basement and long-hidden original details were the features of this space before its renovation. When complete, the apartment became a model of textural, temporal and tactile contrasts.
Built around a small courtyard, the final apartment is light and modern but unashamedly utilizes the gifts of the original features to bring a warmth to the understated design.
This project has since been widely acclaimed within the architectural press and has become a paradigm for successful development of houses in this area.
