The project is developed in a land with a steep natural slope located in one of the highest points of Póvoa de Varzim. We decided to take advantage of the existing topography creating a parallelepiped-level platform in exposed concrete that constitutes part of the building of the single family dwelling. On this "plateau", we placed a black volume to meet the remaining programmatic desired by the developer. Thus, the basement of the building dissolves and forms part of the ground, to give a reading of continuity and "bracing" between the natural and built. The top floor is defined by the social component of the house. The concrete foundation is intended solely for the private sleeping areas with toilets and interior circulation. The garage is a subtraction in the concrete, opened to the exterior by which has an alternative access to the house. The program emphasized the importance given to the living social relations of the house with the possible sea views. These were the main assumptions in the definition of interior's layout, enhancing the open spaces and large areas. The outdoor spaces were paved with slabs of precast concrete in the circulation areas. The remaining areas were grassed.
